作者简介

阿尔弗雷德·丁尼生（Alfred Lord Tennyson，1809-1892），英国维多利亚时代诗人。出生于林肯郡萨默斯比，就学于剑桥大学三一学院。因《悼念集》的出版确立文学地位，接任桂冠诗人，并保持该头衔长达42年。代表作还有叙事长诗《伊诺克·阿登》、十二卷本《国王叙事诗》，以及历史剧《玛丽女王》《哈罗德》等。

  Every literary household in 19^th century Britain had a commonplace book, scrapbook, or album. Nevertheless, the 19^th century commonplace book, along with associated traditions like the scrapbook and album, remain under-studied. This book tells the story of how technological and social changes altered methods for gathering, storing, and organizing information in 19^th century Britain. Built on the evidence of over 300 manuscripts of well-known writers such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Sir Walter Scott, George Eliot, and Alfred Lord Tennyson, and their less well-known contemporaries. Richly illustrated, this book brings an archive of commonplace books, scrapbooks, and albums to the reader.
